January 1st, 2022 !!

Happy New Year. May God be with you and bless you all. May His light be always shining on your face and light your path. Thank you for all you did to help us in 2021.

Spoke to Gasper today. Big rain and heavy wind crashed down in Talawanda at our compound. There was significant damage to the neighbors. Two roofs were lost and supplies in the buildings had to be moved to their dining area for salvage. We ourselves suffered a large crack in our Safari Project House due to the heavy rain and wind. Fortunately, no one was hurt and the damage to the house is repairable. We are thankful no children were hurt and that the hog and chicken houses are still standing. Our bathroom also faired well. We have already contacted the repair man for our house. He will travel from Arusha 9 hours to reach the site. We will rebuild the wall and reinforce it. We are also sending iron and wire mesh to make strength to the wall. We will also add brick so now it will be two rows. We have already taken this problem under review so this will not happen again in the future. We did not know the area could deliver that much rain and wind.

Additionally, we had sent the fund to make purchases for the children starting today. But, the weather is still uncertain and besides that, the roads are now impassable. We will wait until the weather clears and things settle down. We will assist our neighbor in the cleanup and repair of his buildings.

We believe because we left our trees standing that it broke the wind and saved our buildings. We have made plans to plant more trees. These trees will be for fruit and we will begin with bananna. Also, there is one type of tree that repels snakes. They say the snakes do not like the smell of the tree in the rain season and will not pass by it. If they smell the tree the locals say, they will run far. So we will plant those trees in many places, especially around the perimeter of the land.

Tomorrow I will begin my preparation for travel. Evisa, plane ticket, medical appointments, ect. I hope to make it to Africa sometime in February. I will send out several emails and work on the budget for 2022 which is not yet completed.

Congratulations to Fouston. He was married last week on Chirstmas!! May God bless him and his new wife. May they prosper and find great joy in each other. We are so happy for this good man. He is an employee of Manna Project (our neighbor) but has taken the opportunity to assist us with our chickens and make this project work. He has done the good job. He is a blessing to all who meet him and I know he will take care of this fine young lady.
