November 1st Report
Talawanda
1. We will participate in the building of a new medical clinic in the village of Talawanda. The village has asked us to donate 10 bags of concrete. We agreed with the request. The cost is $80 dollars for 10 bags and $20 dollars for transportation to the village.
2. We will begin work with the Nursery School in Talawanda next year. Our goal is to feed the students each day and on Friday send one pound of sugar and 16 oz of oil home with the students. The picture on the page is of the students.
3. We will also provide school uniforms and materials for the students.
4. Many children do not come to school because they cannot afford the materials and uniform.
5. We will buy bulk food items and the ladies of Neema Women’s Group (our sewing ladies) will make the uniforms.
Cost for:
Rice - $100 for 220 pounds
Beans - $120 for 220 pounds
Sugar - $150 for 100 pounds
Oil - $100 for 100 gallons
1 bunch of bananas - $4 each day
Transportation of items $30 dollars each month
Cooker for food - $30 dollars each month
Total cost of the operation will be approximately $600 each month or $7000 per year (estimated/approximate on yearly and monthly cost – there are many variables)
6. We will adjust this budget according to what we are able to do but it is our hope we can secure $7000 dollars for the children here.
7. Here is the email I received:
Hello brother, I hope you are doing fine, this is from talawanda concerning that nursery project,, talawanda primary school has nursery school also, they have 22 children, age between 4 to 6.nine girls and 13boys,,but their attendance number is poor because of the life situation. If we will assist them on breakfast and lunch, each student may cost $4 per day.so the total cost per day will be $4 × 22=$88.for 30days will be$88 × 30 =$2640. For the uniform each student will cost 7000 × 22=154000/tsh,per year.which is around $80. After discussed this budget with the head teacher, I told him $2640 per month is high price which we may not able to achieve, so we agree that we will buy uniform for $80,then we will be help then $1300 monthly for feed of the nursery school and cook salary. Thanks brother. In. HIM,Maurice.
8. We are working with the costs. Checking prices in the area and buying in bulk will be much cheaper. Also, some of these costs will be lowered as we trade corn that we will harvest for some of these items.
9. We sent one bag of corn from Mosquito River to Talawanda for food assistance – 220 pounds.
Hog Project in Talawanda
1. 7 baby hogs have been born
2. Veterinarian has visited and medicated the hogs for good health
3. We also provided $50 dollars to have on hand so if an urgent need arises for the hogs, there will be no delay to meet the need.

Shamba Projects
1. All projects are going well. We are in a waiting period at this time. Planting will begin in December. For now, we are clearing and cleaning the farms getting ready for the corn.
2. Sent $200 dollars to buy food for cattle suffering in Mongere. As of the 18th no cattle have been lost due to hunger
3. There is a severe need in Mongere at this time due to the dry season and effects of Covid 19. The leaders cautioned the people not to burden us (Safari Project) because their needs are to many and if they ask to much, we will leave. I spoke to the leaders and I said, we love them, and we will not leave. We will do as we can. They say thank you. They say our project must not stop with this one village but spread to all, in all of Tanzania. They say they will pray for us and they tell the people of the village to pray for us. They say, they will not ask to much but pray we will stay and work here. He says together we will overcome all things. He says he has taken my picture to show to his friends and to the capitol city of Dodoma where he told the leaders we are friends of the Maasai. He said they have nothing to offer but they have been shown great respect.
