The Ancient Name of Africa

What was Africa called, before it was called Africa?

Many believe that the name "Africa" was given to the continent by the Romans and the Greeks. However before that, Africa was known as Alkebulan, which means: "Mother of Mankind" or "Garden of Eden."

The only known location we have for the legendary Garden of Eden is from the Hebrew Bible, where God placed a garden in a land known as Eden, which resided on the Eastern side of the of the old world. (Genesis 2:8)

Debate has raged for centuries over the location of the Garden. Due to global catastrophe our world is no longer shaped the way that it once was. However, according to scientists, some of the oldest known human skeletons come from the land of Alkebulan, or, Africa.

Africa, is truly a beautiful place, both for it's untamed wilderness and it's sincere and kind people.

And the first command, given by God to the people living in the Garden of Eden is this: to rule over the things of this world (Genesis 1:26) and to take care of them.

Safari Project is here to fulfill that mission of global stewardship, planting gardens, and growing both good food and lasting relationships with our fellow man.
